Google Adwords has a much higher traffic volume then other PPC programs however Miva is much cheaper to advertise with. I know some people advertise on Miva and setup MFA pages and make good money doing it. I recommend advertising on Google Adwords, MIVA, Yahoo Advertising and MSN Ad center if you use this program. But ONLY after you have tested and fine-tuned a successful campaign using Google Adwords.

Your recommendation of Commission Blueprint is enough for me, I am going to buy it now.

I do have one question for you. Is Miva better or worse than Adwords? I have never tried it but saw it advertised on your site.

Omar, I didn't post my current earnings cause for the past few months I have not used it. I stick to affiliate ads mainly, when I do sell text links it is usually on an individual basis.

But when I was using the program I always averaged about $50 a link, sometimes higher but that was the average. I may try and monetize BoldMoney.com for a month or two once I get a decent PR and Alexa rank to give my readers an idea of what you can make off the program.

Terri, i'll be looking forward to that email then. The second site sounds like it has alot of potential, for former may as well but I like your idea for the second.

Just bear with me as I write for this blog, I will attempt to update it frequently with useful material however it may take me a few days to write an article... especially if they are as in-depth as this one.
So for all of you reading this, I recommend you subscribe to my feed. You'll get updates as soon as I write an article and you won't forget about my blog ;-)

Thanks for all the comments! Already the blog has taken off nicely...

You're welcome, both for the comments and the article idea. :-) And thanks very much for spending the time to reply; it's nice to hear someone say that it's not completely hopeless!

Some of the things I'd like to write about fit neatly into a niche, while others are much more broad...one idea is a site about all kinds of crafts, while another possible site would talk about the things that happen or that a person finds or finds out about that makes them happy (I bought a domain name for that one because the one I came up with was too cool to let pass, and I thought it *might* be broad enough for my purposes).

I may yet take you up on the email; I'd better get back to work right now! I'll be looking for more articles from you.

Terri, your right it is much easier to monetize a site(generally) if you are focusing on a specific niche however I know sites where guys just rant about anything and they make good money doing it. Many of them just use Google Adsense or text link sales to cause it is much harder to use affiliate ads on such a site...

I guess it depends on how broad you are looking at... are you talking about a site which delves into web development, everything from photoshop to hard-core coding? I wouldn't see that as a big problem.

But if instead you want a site where you post an article on web development one day and the next rant about the President... that would be quite a broad gap. And it would take some research and careful planning to really monetize the site correctly. However even a site like this can be monetized well if done correctly. It is just harder and takes more thought and insight...

I know some rants blogs have donations instead of ads and they claim to do as well as ads... this also would depend on what your writing about and the crowd your attracting.

Its hard for me to sit here and advise you without knowing exactly what your looking to do. There are various possible scenarios, each with its own set of pros and cons... if you want to email me at randy[at]boldmoney[dot]com and discuss it further I would be more than happy to do that.
It is a interesting situation cause I too wanted to start a site like that, dedicated to anything on my heart. I haven't done it yet, just don't have the time... instead I started this blog :P

You also gave me an idea for a future article, Monetizing sites without a specific niche... I like it! ;-)

Thanks for the comments!
